The North Queensland Cowboys were established in 1995.

The Cowboys secured their first and only NRL Premiership in 2015, defeating the Brisbane Broncos 17–16 in a thrilling golden-point victory. 

Founded in 1995, the North Queensland Cowboys are based in Townsville, Queensland. In their early years, the club faced challenges, including financial difficulties and on-field inconsistencies. Despite these hurdles, the Cowboys reached their first grand final in 2005 but were defeated by the Wests Tigers. A decade later, in 2015, they clinched their maiden premiership in a memorable golden-point victory over the Brisbane Broncos. 

The team reached another grand final in 2017 but fell short against the Melbourne Storm. Over the years, the Cowboys have developed a strong fan base and have been instrumental in promoting rugby league in North Queensland.

The Cowboys' home ground is Queensland Country Bank Stadium, located in South Townsville, Queensland.

Queensland Country Bank Stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 25,000 spectators.
