Wests Tigers

The Wests Tigers were established in 1999 as a joint venture between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies, two foundation clubs of the New South Wales Rugby League. The team began competing in the National Rugby League (NRL) in the 2000 season.

The Wests Tigers secured their sole Premiership in 2005, defeating the North Queensland Cowboys 30–16 in the Grand Final.

Formed at the end of the 1999 NRL season, the Wests Tigers emerged from a joint venture between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. This merger aimed to consolidate resources and maintain a competitive presence in the NRL. The team achieved early success by winning the Premiership in 2005. Since then, the Tigers have experienced varying levels of success and continue to be a significant presence in the NRL. 

The Wests Tigers utilise multiple home grounds, primarily Leichhardt Oval in Lilyfield and Campbelltown Sports Stadium in Leumeah, both located in Sydney, New South Wales.

The team's mascot, "Timmy the Tiger," represents the club's identity and is a popular figure among fans. The Wests Tigers' colours are black, orange, and white, combining elements from both founding clubs: black and white from the Western Suburbs Magpies, and orange and black from the Balmain Tigers.
